RUN EXE SUMMER 5K Round six of 6.

Five Torbay Athletic Club members ran in the final round of 6 in the Run the Exe Summer 5k series, on the traffic free route along footpaths and cycle tracks around Exwick Playing Fields. Torbay Veteran Peter Monaghan had run his fastest 5k for 20 years in the last round 5 of the series, but this time was only just 10 seconds slower and still the overall winner with fastest average time of 16:38 also winning his age category.
Final scoring was based on the best 5 results out of 6.
Torbay’s Shaun McKernan wons the under 15 competition beating Harvey Thompson from Exeter Harriers with a 19:05 average getting much faster since the first round.
Amelia Hall won the age 45 category with average of 23 minutes.

Torbay Veteran Peter Monaghan ran his fastest 5k for 20 years in the round 5 of the Run Exe Summer 5k finishing 4th overall and beating Alan Ryder from Plymouth Muskerteers by 14 seconds.
Race winner was James Baker from Chichester Runners AC in a very fast time 15:46. 2nd Neil Barkell Tavistock AC 16:08. 3rd Joe Monk from Blackburn Harriers.
Torbay AC junior Under 15 runner equaled his personal best time set last month in round 4. Shaun now has a very good chance of winning his age group for the series if he turns up at round 3. Harvey Thompson Exeter Harriers is his nearest rival in his age group.
Amelia Hall and Peter Monaghan are both leading their age groups.

FIVE Torbay AC members ran the Run Exe Summer 5k Series (Round 3 of 6).
The event organised by The Ironbridge Runner was on the pancake flat traffic free course along footpaths and cycle tracks around Exwick Playing Fields and the River Exe Flood Relief area.
On the first lap it was neck and neck between talented 13 year old Oakley James and veteran Stephen Wilbraham. Both ran together until James managed to pull away with half a kilometre to go, finishing in 19:49 to claim the best time for the Torbay Club and also record the fastest time in his (M13) age group.
Stephen Wilbraham was 2nd home; his goal was to break 20 minutes and he just managed to achieve it by one second. Next home was Megan Webber, who broke the 21 minute barrier by just 2 seconds. Megan(F13) also produced the fastest time in her age group.
Junior coach Tim Peters just failed by one second to break the 21 minute barrier. It was new member Phil Bates’ first experience at running a flat fast 5k. His goal to break 22 minutes on this run was achieved by 7 seconds.

A great traffic free and pancake flat 5km run on footpaths and cycle tracks around Exwick Playing Fields and the River Exe Flood Relief. This event is suitable for people chasing PB’s along with novice runners. Organised by Ironbridge Runners in Exeter. There are six races in the series, one race per month. Each event is open to both individual round entries and series entries (basically if you can’t do all the races you are still welcome to run in individual rounds!)
Five Torbay Athletic Club members ran the second race of the series. Jon Parkinson finished 7th and won his age category and finished 8th. It was Dennis Comissar first ever race for the club.
