TORBAY AC enjoyed a 1-2-3 finish at the South Devon 10k, where Arran Tocknell was followed home by veterans Pete Monaghan and Jon Parkinson.
Last Saturday’s race was the fourth year of this event with the course remaining the same – a stunning route, involving quiet country lanes, footpaths and bridleways, taking in views of the River Dart and Mill Pond at Stoke Gabriel.
It is a tough route, with a number of challenging hills and lots of mud, but there are some significant downhill and flat stretches.
The 10k starts and finishes at South Devon College Campus.
Twelve Torbay AC members were running, with Tocknell winning in 36:22, beating Monaghan by 26 seconds. Elite coach Jon Parkinson was only 90 seconds behind to claim the last podium position.
It was Tocknell’s third win at this event and he achieved a new course pb time. He and Monaghan both won their age categories as Torbay also took the first, third and fifth team prizes.
New members Gary Brenton and Phil Bates were running their first races for the club.
