  2. Hi my name is Chris and i ran 2.6 mile last night for the first time in 15 years i used to love running an ran at school level track and cross country. I’m running the half marathon this year for charity and need to get back into shape i quit smoking over a week ago and i’m currently also doing resistance band training to build up my muscle strength and core strength. i would love to join a club that could guide me properly back into running. Do you think tonight’s session would benefit me or not?

  5. Hi There,
I used to run about three times a week but haven’t since October and I am interested in running with a group as this is very motivating. I can run a mile in about 10mins at a steady pace.
Would it be ok to come down on Tuesday 5th January and I think that level 2 would suit me rather than level 1?

    Kind Regards
    Louise

    • Cool, yep come along, parking is expensive at Riviera Centre so maybe best to park on Avenue Road and walk across. If you join its £12.50 and you will receive a free parking permit for club nights.
I think this Tuesday is a time trial 5.3 miles run for all group levels which you can cut down to 4.3 miles or your group Level 2 may decide do their own run. Come along and I will introduce you to your leader

  6. Hi There,
I am interested in getting back into running but haven’t run since October!
Reading the other comments would it be ok to run with you guys on Tuesday 5th as I run about a mile in 10 minutes and think that level 2 would be more suitable than level 1?

    Kind Regards
    Louise

  8. Hi
My daughter comes along to the junior athletics on a Thursday,
I have watched the adult sessions which look great fun.
I have just started running again, most mornings, I live Meadfoot Lane which is near Torquay Harbour and run from there to either Preston Sands or Paignton Harbour plus back again, which takes me from an hour to hour and half, I run most of it but seem to stop and walk for a few minutes then start again, so I need help to build my stamina up and try to keep going.
I’m not to sure if it is level one or two I need to be in
    Thanks
    Jo

    • Hi Jo
I think Level 2 on a Tuesday but recommend you try the Thursday Session as its speed work with recoveries. The longest you will run before having to take a short recovery of 90 seconds is a mile. SO try Thursdays first and gain some confidence before trying Tuesday. I’m sure once you have done one Thursday you will be confident enough to try a Tuesday. They run about 5 and a half to 6 miles in 1 hour.

  9. Hi there, I would be really interested in joining the Tri club, i’m currently entering one in June in Bideford as a personal challenge but would like some help and also continue along the Triathlon route for further events.
I currently can only run 5k with a pace of about 11.30 and I’ve just got into bike riding and i’m learning the front crawl so very newbie, but would like to get help.

    thanks
    Claire

  10. Hi. I’m interested in joining your group to do running as on my own it’s very boring. I think I’ve seen the group running before as ive been running along the sea front. How do I join?

    Thanks

    Ian

    • Hi Ian
Yes that is probably us training on seafront.
We meet until end of April at Riviera Centre Tuesday and Thursdays 6:30pm.
We cater for all abilities on a Thursday but on Tuesday you need to be able to run 5 – 6 miles minimal and about 5 miles in under 1 hour for level 2 group which is the easiest group on a Tuesday.
Try us for free a couple of times. From early April we will have membership forms available. Club membership is £25. If you like to enter some races then best to pay extra £12 on top (optional) for England Athletic membership. This will give you £2 discount at most running event and allow you to enter races as a Torbay Athletic Club member. If you enter a race and don’t pay this membership then you need to enter events as unaffiliated. Totally optional.
How far can you run, have you ran any 10k’s? Let me know and I can work out the best group for you to run with on a Tuesday.
On a Thursday we offer a speed session and its all groups training together, with efforts followed by recoveries.
Please feel free to ask any questions 🙂

      • After April we will move to Torre Valley North which is located next to Cockington School on Avenue Road. There two entrances to the field, one on Avenue Road and the other is on Rathmore Road close to Walnut Road but the will be from first training session on Tuesday May 5th. There is parking by our club house from the Rathmore road entrance.

      • Cheers for the reply. I try and run daily, most I’ve ever ran is 33km and often I run from Torquay harbour over to Paignton and back. I’m not a beginner but nor am I a professional…
