FULFORDS FIVE
Sunday 5th February 2017

Twenty four Torbay AC members ran The Fulfords Five, a 5 mile 2 lap road race around the streets of Exmouth including the breezy seafront. First home for the Club was Lee Turner (27:58) followed by Pete Monaghan (28:16) and Martyn Breslan (28:54) There were several outstanding performances from the Clubs veteran runners with Debbie Drake (36:48) 2nd FV/50, Irene Hewings (40:02) 1st FV/60, Andrew Park (48:24) 3rd MV/65, Anne Lucas (49:33) 2nd FV/65, Ray Brown (40:00) 3rd MV/70.

THE MOON LIGHT FLIT
Sunday 5th February 2017

A Night time event from Totnes leading runners off road around the South Hams countryside with Torbay s Nick Robinson finishing 2nd overall (39:41) running the 6.5k event , while Adharanand Finn ran a time of 1:51:21 in the HALF MARATHON finishing an excellent 15th overall.

SOUTH DEVON COASTAL TRAIL SERIES
Sunday 5th February 2017

On the day three brave Torbay athletes entered this event series, which included an Ultra Marathon, Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k race, starting and finishing at Beesands . Organised by Endurance Life, South Hams Company. This is where the Coastal Trail Series was born with the South Devon stage becoming a cult classic. The course contained within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is simultaneously picturesque and punishing. With its blend of jagged rocks interspersed with idyllic sandy coves, this coastline is jaw droppingly beautiful and hugely inspiring. In the Half Marathon finishing 160th Nick Robinson (2:29:56) while in the Marathon Distance finishing 56th was Brian Lewis (6:21:21) 57th with Annika Longthorpe (6:21:21)
Other races in the series are in Northumberland, Sussex, Exmoor, Pembrokeshire, North York Moors, Suffolk, Gower and Dorset

Saturday 4th February 2017

With Torbay Velopark parkrun cancelled due to flooding, eight Torbay members ran the Bovey Tracey parkrun and one travelled to Birmingham and finished 34 out of 748 and 4th lady.
Parke parkrun 7 Shaun Mckernan (22:58) – 22 Stephen Wilbraham (24:46) – 38 Emma Gilboy (26:41) – 44 Simon Gilboy (27:18) – 63 Lisa Belsten (29:35) – 82 Anita Ley (32:46) – 94 Nicholas James (34:07) – 109 Alexander James (40:54) A total of 121 runners took part.
Cannon Hill 5K parkrun, Birmingham 34 Naomi Flanagan (19:26) with a total of 748 runners taking part.


WESTWARD LEAGUE CROSS COUNTRY – STOVER
Sunday 12th February 2017

23 Junior and Senior Torbay A.C. Athletes braved cold conditions at Sunday’s Westward League Cross Country Fixture held at Stover School. Conditions were good underfoot thanks to reasonably dry weather. The U17 Mens team once again all put in great performances with Hayden Fey finishing 6th, Shaun McKernen 8th, Will Rutland 10th and Jamie Morrison 11th. This now puts the team in 1st place going in to the final event in Redruth next month. Ela Rogers once again ran really well and finished 8th in the U11 Girls race which puts her in 6th place overall. Just two of Torbay’s U15 Boys team competed with Jake Harker finishing in 9th place and Alex James in 11th. The U15 Boys are now 4th in the overall standings. In the U11 Boys Race William James put in a great run finishing in 8thplace. Vasile-Valeriu Chirita put in another great individual performance in the MV40 age category and now lies in 7th place in the league. Anthony Raine returned from injury and now lies in 9th place in the MV45 category and Denis Doy maintained his 3rd position in the MV65 age group. Sara Crozier moved up to 6th in FV45 category overall after a really solid run.

EXETER HALF MARATHON
Sunday 12th February 2017

Two Torbay Club runners took on the Exeter Half Marathon, a great three lap traffic free, pancake flat route, running along the footpaths and cycle tracks around the River Exe.
Finishing in an excellent 5th place was Christopher Billing (1:25:27), with Nick Robinson having run the Parkrun on the Saturday finishing 151st (1:49:46) running both races as part of his spring Marathon training build-up.

THE WILD NIGHT RUN 2017
Sunday 12th February 2017

Phil Bates challenged himself on the South West’s toughest Night Race over 10 miles of muddy, rocky, boggy Dartmoor starting from South Brent Village Hall. Phil finishing 92nd in (2:04:18) saying “It was great !, with steep bits, muddy bits, and icy bits, with a view of a long line of head torch lights stretching out across the moor in front (mostly). Winner finished in 1:10:39, which was amazing.”

LYTCHETT 10
Sunday 12th February 2017

Torbay s Mark Bruce ran The Lytchett 10 Miler a road race starting at Lytchett Minster Sports Centre, Poole, Dorset. The course was hilly and run entirely on road and pavements.
Mark Bruce finished 150th in (1:17:23)

In Torbay a total of 167 runners took part in the 6thTorbay Velopark parkrun this week as it started to snow lightly for start, the previous week the event was cancelled due to flooding, but easterly winds and a few dry sunny days improved the conditions for this weeks run.

Further north….at the Concord parkrun, Sheffield 100 runners took part finishing 15 Brian Lewis (22:18) At Pontefract parkrun 318 runners took part finishing 133 Michele Sandhu (27:25)
