Competitors ran 12km along the stunning coastal path, where there was mud (plenty of it), wind and rain it had it all, as nearly 60 brave runners took on the gruelling challenge although the weather didn’t get to show off all the Global Geopark in all its stunning glory, there was still plenty to enjoy for both first timers and those of a more experienced nature as runners headed out and back along the challenging SW Coastal Path.

With Torbay AC well represented, it was Simon Longthorpe who lead the racers home with team-mate Pete Monaghan swapping the road for mud to claim 2ndspot and Andy Longthorpe ensuring it was a family affair on the podium taking 3rd place holding off Ian Tyson 4th with David Gow-Smith 5th .

OMAN DESERT ULTRA MARATHON
Saturday 14th November 2015

Oman Desert Marathon Adharanand Finn

Out in the Oman Desert taking on an 165 km Ultra Marathon was Adharanand Finn, this distance formula is designed to encapsulate the experience of being in the desert and to give runners the opportunity to test themselves and their equipment before embarking on any longer challenges, with race organisers always be present to support, give advice and medical assistance if necessary, without interfering with the self-sufficiency of the competitors who are required to carry all of their own equipment except for water which is provided at checkpoints. The organization did also provide sleeping bags at each camp. Carrying all you need is a big challenge, more so than running 165 km, this is fundamental to the experience of the authentic desert life, the Oman desert is one of the most beautiful locations for such an event with a variety of landscapes and sand conditions giving the runner a complete desert experience, including also a night stage that gave runners a chance to experience the magic of the desert illuminated by the stars Adharanand Finn was the first Briton to cross the finish line 27th out of 65 runners in 1 day 2hours 38 minutes 37 seconds saying
