Seawall reopens just in time for Pete’s Dawlish Dash win. TORBAY AC’s Peter Monaghan again won the Dawlish Dash – for the fourth time in a row. Network Rail reopened the section of the storm damaged seawall from the Warren to the Rockstone Bridge just in time for this event.
The four-mile race started from Dawlish Warren seafront, taking runners across the beach over the groynes and along the sea wall path towards Dawlish and back via the Lady’s Mile footpath.
Among the 13 Torbay AC members in this race was veteran Ray Wilson competing in his first race since being seriously injured by a vehicle in the Erme Valley Relays last year. Ray who is in his 60s proved he can still run fast finishing 82nd from 144 finishers.
It was also a happy return to racing for Marnie Woodley who had a great run and was first Torbay lady home.
